On March 9, Mykola Tomenko, Deputy Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, attended celebration of the 197th anniversary of birth of Taras Shevchenko in "Mamaeva Sloboda" complex. He took part in the opening of the bookshop of Ukrainian literature "Shablia "Kozaka Mamaia."
At the opening ceremony, M.Tomenko stated, "We have recently focused on counteraction to the closure of Ukrainian bookshops, which is right." However, he believes that opening of new bookshops is the best way to promote Ukrainian books.
The Deputy Chairman appreciates the fact that such a bookshop is opened in "Mamaeva Sloboda" complex. "It is natural, as having learned about the history of Cossacks, ancient traditions, and culture, the visitors would like to consolidate the information with a book on Ukrainian history or literature," M.Tomenko stressed. "It is especially useful and important for the children visiting this place."
M.Tomenko thanked Kostiantyn Oliinyk, founder of "Mamaeva Sloboda" complex, for this good deed performed on the occasion of Taras Shevchenko birth anniversary.
